Cookie Policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
TalkTo sets one sign-in cookie, saves a handful of preferences in your browser and runs Google Analytics 4. This page lists all of it.
1. What cookies and similar storage are
This policy covers TalkTo, run by RadioWyves Media. A cookie is a small piece of text that a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Local storage and session storage are close relatives: small stores inside your browser that only this site can read. Local storage stays until you clear it. Session storage disappears when you close the tab. Below, we call all of these "storage".
2. What we use, and what we do not
We use storage for four jobs: keeping you signed in, remembering your choices, letting a page refresh rejoin a live chat, and counting visits with Google Analytics 4. We set no advertising cookies of our own.
A sponsored slot is a link to another site. Once you click it, that site sets whatever storage it likes, and we do not control it.
3. The full list
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
tt_s | Cookie, needed to sign in | Keeps you signed in. Your browser sends it with each request, which is how we know which anonymous account is yours. It is HttpOnly, so scripts on the page cannot read it, and SameSite Lax. | Up to 400 days, or until you log out |
talkto-theme | Local storage, preference | Remembers the colour theme you picked. | Until you clear it |
talkto-prefs | Local storage, preference | Remembers your lobby choices: the interests you picked and the Auto-connect switch. | Until you clear it |
talkto-rooms-hidden | Local storage, preference | Remembers which public rooms you hid from your sidebar. | Until you clear it |
talkto-names-hidden | Local storage, preference | Remembers whether you chose to hide names and previews in your direct message list. | Until you clear it |
talkto-rules-seen | Local storage, preference | Remembers that you have already read the room rules, so they are not pushed at you again. | Until you clear it |
talkto_cookie_consent | Local storage, notice | Remembers that you dismissed the cookie banner with Got it. | Until you clear it |
talkto-match | Session storage | Holds the id of your live chat, so that refreshing the page puts you back in it. | Until you close the tab |
_ga, _ga_* | Cookies, analytics (Google Analytics 4) | Set by Google. They tell Google Analytics which visits come from the same browser, so we can count visits and see which pages get used. | Up to 2 years |
Only tt_s is needed for the service to work, and without it you cannot stay signed in. The rest save small conveniences, or belong to analytics. Nothing in this list is an advertising cookie.
4. The analytics banner, and how to refuse analytics
The banner on the site is a notice. It tells you analytics are in use and has a Got it button. It has no decline button, because it does not ask for a choice. You can still refuse analytics yourself:
- Block cookies for this site in your browser settings. If your browser lets you block only the
_ganames, do that, since blockingtt_ssigns you out. - Install Google's opt-out add-on for your browser.
- Use a browser or extension that blocks trackers.
Refusing analytics changes nothing about how the service works for you.
5. Clearing storage
Every browser has a setting that deletes cookies and site data, usually under privacy or history. You can clear one site or everything. Clearing tt_s signs you out. If you have not linked an email address, you cannot sign back in to that account, so link one first if you want to keep it. Clearing the other items resets your choices: the theme goes back to the default, and the cookie banner may return.
Clearing storage does not delete your account. To do that, use Settings in the app. The Privacy Policy explains what deletion removes.
6. Changes
When we add or drop a cookie or a storage item, we update this list and the date at the top.
