Anime Chat: Find Someone Who Finished It Too

Anime chat works best with a stranger who watched the same episode in the same week, and release schedules make that more likely than you would guess. Tick Anime in the lobby and the matcher tries to sit you next to someone who ticked it too.

Or skip the queue and walk into the Anime room, where the recent messages are readable before you join and nobody asks you to prove your power level. It is one of eight public rooms on TalkTo, all typed, all 18+.

Open with a take, not a greeting

Do not start with "hi, anime?" You both already know. Start with an opinion somebody can disagree with: sub or dub, whether filler arcs deserve a second chance, the opening theme you refuse to skip. Each new match offers three conversation openers anyway, and a shuffle button swaps them out when none suit your mood.

The this-or-that question suits fandoms nicely. You each pick an answer without seeing the other's, and then both appear together. "Protagonist or rival?" takes four seconds and tells you whether this will be a long conversation or a quick skip.

You can tag up to five interests, so pair Anime with Art & Drawing, Memes, Gaming or Music if your taste wanders. The nudge lasts fifteen seconds, then the matcher takes whoever is next in line. A nudge, not a wall.

The spoiler code, and one rule about age

Ask where someone is up to before you say anything with a plot in it. One message, and you have saved a conversation. If they are three episodes in, talk about the characters you have in common and keep your finale feelings in your pocket.

Heated is fine. Ship wars, tier lists and arguments about whether the remake ruined everything happen constantly, and nobody needs to be hurt by them. Slurs are different: the filter blocks them before they are delivered, and the sender is told why. Report anyone who keeps pushing, and block them if they get under your skin.

One more thing, because the fandom has plenty of teenagers in it: this site is for adults only. The start screen will not let you in until the age box is ticked, a message in which someone types that they are under 18 is stopped, and "Looks under 18" is one of the report reasons. An automatic temporary ban can follow while a person reviews.

Keeping a good chat going

One-to-one chats are not saved, so if someone drops a recommendation list you actually want, copy it out before you leave. The history page shows recent conversations with a handle, a time and a message count, never the words.

To keep the person rather than the list, press the private good-chat heart. If the other person presses theirs, the chat says "You both enjoyed this chat" and offers an add button. A friend request mid-chat also works. Friends get private DMs, which you can edit for fifteen minutes or unsend, plus a day streak for messaging every day. Set a 60-character note, something like "rewatching season one, no spoilers", and your friends see it for 24 hours.

If you want a crowd for the weekly episode debate, group chat rooms explains how the Anime room works, and gaming chat is next door for the games between arguments.

Anime chat, answered

How do I find other anime fans?

Tick Anime before you join the queue. During your first fifteen seconds in the queue the matcher favours someone who shares an interest, then it takes whoever is waiting. The Anime room is the other route, and it needs no matching at all.

Is it free?

Yes. The queue, the Anime room, friend requests and DMs all work without paying anything.

Can I add someone I clicked with?

Yes. Both of you tap the private good-chat heart and an add button shows up. A friend request sent mid-chat works as well.

Is there an anime chat room?

Yes, Anime is one of the eight public rooms. You can read its recent messages first, join if it suits you, and leave or hide it with one tap when you are done.

Can I share fan art, clips or links?

No. It is text only: no images, no files, and the filter blocks links. Describe the scene instead, which is half the fun of a fandom conversation.

Is anime chat open to teenagers?

No. Adults only, and you confirm your age at the start. Anyone who looks under 18 can be reported.

Come here. Someone is waiting.

No camera, no name, no sign-up. Just you, a stranger and whatever happens next.
