Brazil Chat: Meet Brazilians, Text Only
If you want to chat with people from Brazil, here is the plain version. TalkTo will not hand you a Brazilian on request. Everyone waits in one worldwide queue, with no camera and no real names, and the conversation takes it from there. What you control is the hour you turn up and the way you open.
Below: the evening window worth aiming for, a few Portuguese lines to type first, and the topics that keep a Brazilian talking past the greeting. Adults only, no account, nothing to install.
Turn up when Brazil is awake
There is no country box to tick, so the clock is the only dial you own. Most Brazilians live on Brasília time, UTC-3, all year round, because Brazil gave up daylight saving in 2019. Evening is the sensible bet: after work and school, phone in hand, say 8pm to 1am.
Run the sums for your own side. 8pm in Brasília is 11pm in London in winter and midnight once the UK is on summer time. In New York it is 6pm in winter and 7pm in summer. From Europe that makes Brazil your night shift, which is where late night chat comes in. From the Americas, your evening is already theirs.
Brazil is wide enough to have more than one clock, with the far west an hour or two behind Brasília, so a match's "it is only 9pm" might come from Manaus rather than São Paulo. The chat header helps: it shows the country your match connects from, read off their connection rather than anything they typed. Treat it as a good hint, not a passport, because a VPN will throw it off.
Start with oi, not hola
Brazilians speak Portuguese, and opening in Spanish is the quickest way to look like you did not try. "Oi" or "e aí" will do, and "tudo bem?" is the standard follow-up, roughly how are things. Learn one more detail: the Brazilian laugh in text is "kkkk", not "haha", and a reply full of k's is a good sign.
Chat shorthand is compact. "Vc" is você, "tb" is também, "pq" is porque and "blz" is beleza, as in all good. You do not need to type like that. Reading it without panic is enough, and it tells you the person on the other end is relaxed.
The menus here are English only for now, so the Portuguese lives in the messages, which is arguably where it belongs. Some Brazilians will happily switch to English if you start there. If either of you runs out of words, change the medium: Tic-Tac-Toe, Connect Four and Chess need no shared vocabulary at all, and gaming chat has more on playing your way into a conversation.

Peek insideWhat to say after oi
Football opens doors, but ask something better than "which team". Try "who would you never swap?" or whether the Brasileirão or a European league gets their weekend. Music goes further than people expect: funk, sertanejo, pagode, forró, MPB. "What is on repeat this week?" beats naming a singer you already know.
Food is a safe, endless subject. Pão de queijo, coxinha, brigadeiro, açaí: say what belongs on a proper plate and wait for the paragraph that comes back. Memes and games run deep too. Before you queue, tick up to five of the 28 interests, such as Music, Gaming, Food & Cooking or Memes. For the first 15 seconds of the wait the matcher prefers someone who ticked one of yours, then it takes whoever is next. It is a preference, not a gate.
Had a good one? Tap the heart for a good chat. It is private, and only when you both tap it do you see "You both enjoyed this chat" and a button to add each other. For a broader crowd, the International room in group chat rooms lets you read recent messages before joining, so you can see who is talking before you say anything.

Short answers before you say oi
Is there a way to match with Brazilians only?
No. Neither a country nor a language can be set, and it is better you hear that now than hunt for a switch. The odds move with the clock (a Brazilian evening), with shared interests during the first 15 seconds of the wait, and with how you open.
Does it cost anything?
You pay nothing to chat, play, join rooms or add friends, and nobody makes you open an account first. An email is optional and exists only so you can log back in from another device.
Do I need to speak Portuguese?
No, though a few words buy a lot of goodwill. The menus are in English for now, so nobody expects you to arrive fluent. Learners can take it slowly: read at your own speed, look words up, and skip when a chat outruns you.
Is there video?
No. No camera, no microphone, no photos or files, so the only thing a stranger gets from you is whatever you decide to type.
Is it safe, and what do reports do?
Adults only. A filter on our server reads each message before it reaches the other person, and it blocks sexual content, slurs and anyone saying they are under 18, plus links, email addresses and phone numbers. It is a filter, not a guarantee, and it is strongest in English, because that is the language its word lists are written around. Blocking for links, emails and phone numbers works whatever language you type, but an unkind word in Portuguese is more likely to slip through. That is what the report button is for, so use it. Choose a reason, a snippet of the conversation joins the report in a queue a person reviews, and that chat ends.
Is the site itself available in Portuguese?
Not yet. Buttons, menus and room names are in English, and there is no language switcher. What you type is your choice, so a whole chat can run in Portuguese if you both want it to. Nothing translates for you, which is one more reason a quick game helps when words fail.
